Bank of Bermuda is a leading financial services company providing fund administration, trust, custody, asset management and banking services to institutions and individuals. Founded in 1889, the group grew to span 17 of the world’s key financial and offshore centres including Bahrain, Cayman Islands, Cook Islands, Dublin, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Isle of Man, Japan, Jersey, London, Luxembourg, New York, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and Switzerland prior to joining the HSBC Group’s Network in February 2004. Most of Bank of Bermuda’s operations in these overseas locations have been amalgamated with HSBC offices.

Customer groups

Commercial Banking (CMB) serves the needs of all of the Bank’s business clients by offering a full suite of services to both domestic companies and multinational corporations. CMB provides a wide range of banking and financial services which includes everything from transaction banking and working capital facilities to specialised corporate risk management.

Supported by a knowledgeable staff of relationship managers and specialist teams dedicated to the disparate needs of such sectors as captive insurance and small business, the main focus of CMB is to work in partnership with the Banks’s commercial clients. Whatever the nature of the enterprise, CMB is committed to servicing the needs of this key segment.

Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) services Bank of Bermuda’s largest international corporate clients, who have ongoing investment needs. Working closely with Group offices overseas, CIB meets the product and service needs of the largest and most sophisticated institutional clients by combining Bermuda-based, global relationship management with worldwide access to risk capital and financial solutions.

HSBC Investments Bermuda (ISBM) is the local arm of the HSBC Group’s global investment management business. In addition to the continued management of Bank of Bermuda’s mutual funds, ISBM also focuses on institutional asset management. By leveraging investment capabilities from a global network of investment offices, ISBM provides consistent risk-controlled performance while delivering creative solutions to the Bank’s clients. ISBM draws upon local connections wherever possible to deliver capabilities from across Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas with the benefit of local market perspectives.

Alternative Fund Services (AFS) is a leader in international fund administration services for Hedge Funds, Multi Manager Funds, Fund of Funds, Absolute Return Funds, Private Equity, Emerging Markets Funds and Real Estate Funds. With over 40 years of experience in the hedge fund industry, our highly skilled and motivated staff work proactively with specialist, emergent and institutional managers to provide a range of administration and custody services configured to individual needs.

Global Markets world-class service offering and global presence, combined with local accessibility, ensure that the Bank is perfectly placed to offer a premier service to our customers, whether corporate, institutional, private or government, for all their financing, risk or investment needs. Personal Financial Services (PFS) provides a broad range of products and services to the Bermuda community, including chequings and savings accounts, transactional/payment services, debit/ATM cards, credit cards, internet and telephone banking, personal and consumer loans, mortgages and home equity loans, and investment and financial planning services. Its goal is to be the leading consumer bank in Bermuda.

HSBC Private Bank offers a full wealth management service including banking, investments, portfolio management services and trusts. The division has been providing fiduciary services to private clients since 1936. The Bank’s wholly owned trust company, Bermuda Trust Company Limited is the largest trust company in Bermuda and a recognised leader in the establishment and administration of many types of trusts including family trusts, private foundations, purpose trusts and charitable trusts. Areas of particular expertise include a renowned Private Family Office capability and a philanthropy service.
