Children need many things to lead happy, healthy, productive lives and education is one of the critical components necessary for our children to succeed. Each child deserves a sound education, our encouragement and access to enrichment programmes in order to become the best that they can be. That’s why HSBC Bermuda supports educational projects that create a firm foundation on which to build future success for all of our young people.
HSBC Bermuda sponsors a number of educational projects including:
Hall of History Children's Guide - Bermuda Maritime Museum launched a free children's educational booklet showcasing the historic Graham Foster mural at Commissioner's House, Dockyard. A Children's Guide to the Hall of History tells how Foster created the 1,000-square-foot mural and highlights key sections of the artwork illustrating Bermuda's entire human history-from the 1500s to today. HSBC Bermuda was the major sponsor for the 24-page booklet that will be distributed free to all Bermuda's primary schools over the next five years at the start of every school year, as well as to every child who independently visits the Museum mural.
The future well-being of our island environment is an endeavour we should all take on. HSBC Bermuda tackles one of the world’s biggest challenges, climate change, in concert with the global approach of HSBC. Through recycling programmes in the Bank’s offices, engaging staff and customers in environmental initiatives and assisting local organisations to educate us on the importance of a healthy environment, the Bank helps to bring environmental awareness to the local community, promoting the preservation and protection of our island home.
HSBC Bermuda sponsors a number of environment projects including:
Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS) - The Bank sponsors the BIOS Research Vessel, the Atlantic Explorer, which is used by local and international scientists for important research in Bermuda's waters and the world's oceans.
Daddy And I Explore book series - This book series by local author David Chapman promotes the importance of the preservation of our environment to our children. The Bank sponsored the purchase of 800 copies of the latest publication, Daddy And I Explore...Nonsuch Island! "The Living Museum", for distribution to Primary Four school children across the island.
Bermuda’s most precious asset is the strength of its community. As part of that community, HSBC Bermuda is proud of its role in supporting programmes and celebrations that build and reinforce bonds within our community. Bonds that bring us a greater understanding of each other. Bonds that bring out our best whatever the undertaking.
HSBC Bermuda sponsors a number of community events including:
HSBC Bermuda donated over USD2.6 million to our community in 2009 - HSBC Bermuda is a committed supporter of our community and through sponsorships, charitable donations and volunteer hours we lead the way in helping to make our community a better place.
