Insurance

  • Your property must be adequately insured and the insurance policy must be endorsed to the Bank.
  • Bank of Bermuda can help you protect your investment and obtain home insurance through an exclusive arrangement with BF&M.
  • Your Mortgage Officer can discuss the features of the insurance policy with you and can provide you with a quote so you can make a decision prior to your closing meeting.


Legal

  • Your lawyer will inform your Mortgage Officer and you of the closing date and legal costs.
  • Your lawyer will meet with you to sign off on the conveyance and mortgage documents.
  • On the closing date, Bank of Bermuda will disburse the mortgage funds to your law firm and the keys to the property will be handed to you.


Other things to consider

  • Pay down your debt. Do not make large credit card purchases, or take out other loans.
  • Prioritise the features you want in your future home.
  • Use a professional realtor  who will work with you in the buying process and provide you with expert advice.
  • Set aside money for the one-time big-ticket purchases that come with ownership.
